A 38-year-old Dearborn Heights man was arraigned Monday in the stabbing death of his wife, a Detroit Public Schools assistant principal.
Shonta Dupree, 38, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, according to a press release from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's office. He was arraigned in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights and ordered held without bail. Dupree faces a preliminary examination Sept. 12.
Dupree is accused of fatally stabbing his wife, Nytia Dupree, 35, at the family's home in the 7400 block of Nightingale in Dearborn Heights on Thursday afternoon.
Police said earlier that the Duprees were divorcing. Shonta Dupree initially said someone had broken into the home, but police did not believe his story.
