The Ilitch family has snapped up the empty, historic, six-story Women's City Club of Detroit at Park and Elizabeth for $5.85 million, The Detroit News reports.

The building at 2110 Park Ave. is within the 50-block district anchored by many of the family's Detroit properties, including  the Little Caesars Arena.

The building is one block west of the Fox and the arena and the still-under-construction Little Caesars Global Resource Center, the $150 million corporate headquarters for the world’s largest carry-out pizza chain, writes Louis Aguilar of the Detroit News.

The Ilitch family has grand plans to develop District Detroit around the new arena.
