William T. Riley III
The Inkster Police Department that was rocked by scandal after a video surfaced of one its cops beating a motorist during a traffic stop on Jan. 28, has a new police chief.
Lauren Abdel-Razzaq of the Detroit News reports that William T. Riley III, the former police chief in Selma, Ala., is scheduled to be sworn in Monday. He replaces Vicki Yost, who resigned in April following the fallout from the beating of motorist Floyd Dent. The city settled a lawsuit with Dent and fired the officer, William Melendez, who faces criminal charges in the case.
The News reports that in Selma Riley managed 55 sworn officers and 46 civilian personnel that included jailers, animal control officers and crossing guards.
