Perhaps there's no greater injustice than serving time in prison for a crime you didn't commit.

WDIV reports that Donya Davis spent the last seven years in prison for rape.

But things have changed, thanks to the Cooley Law School Innocence Project, which took up Davis's case and had new DNA tests done on the sperm found on the victim, WDIV. The results showed he couldn't possibly be the attacker.

Friday night, he walked out of prison, WDIV reported.

"Anger only frustrates things. You (get) angry, your judgment is clouded," Davis said. "You can't think, you can't do anything. So I put the anger behind me and worked on getting home."

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office let Davis go free pending a new trial based on evidence.

He earned a GED in prison and was working toward getting a paralegal degree.
