Metro Detroit is hardly the only region in the world with massive abandoned auto factories with glorious pasts.

Jalopnik has compiled a list of "The Ten Most Unbelievable Abandoned Car Factories," and it includes only four from Michigan: Flint's Buick City, Highland Park's Ford plant, and Detroit's Fisher Body and Packard plants.

Also of note on the list to local readers: John DeLorean's plant in Northern Ireland. It had separate entrances for Catholic and Protestant workers.

If you want to see how things went at the factory, which had separate entrances for Catholics and Protestant workers, check out this video. What you can still find there today though is DeLorean's own test track. It doesn't get more haunted than this tarmac covered in shattered dreams in the land of fairies.
