McDonald's on Woodward Avenue in Midtown
As you drive through the city, particularly in some neighborhoods, there's clearly a dearth of good restaurants.
Drive up and down Woodward and you'll see all kinds of deals at fast food joints for burgers with lots of bacon and chicken dinners and fish sandwiches. Not exactly nutritional heaven.
Just out of curiosity I checked some of the websites and online white page listings to see just how many McDonald's restaurants there are. They seem to be omnipresent in the city.
Last year, I asked the company for a count, and after a couple attempts, they never responded. Must have figured it couldn't be a positive article. McDonald's is a little sensitive, particularly since the 2004 movie "Supersize Me" became a big hit.
So just in case you were wondering, here's an unofficial count of the McDonald's in the city, which comes out to about 1 McDonald's for every 7.2 square miles in the city.
And while I was at it, I checked some other fast hamburger joints as well. I did not include Highland and Hamtramck.
