Detroit Tigers ace pitcher Justin Verlander announced Wednesday that's he's moved his veterans-focused charity, Wins for Warriors Foundation, from Birmingham to downtown Detroits.
The ffice now is at the Chrysler House, a Dan Gilbert building at 719 Griswold St..
Wins for Warriors provides mental health support to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families in Detroit, Richmond and Norfolk, itss website says

Verlander, whose grandfathers are military veterans, started the foundation with $1 million in 2013. Since then, Wins for Warriors says it has made more than $650,000 in grants to projects that support the mental health and emotional well-being of veterans and their families. This year, the foundation obtained 501(c)(3) status from the IRS, allowing tax-deductible contributions for donors.
"Locating my foundation's offices in the heart of downtown Detroit reinforces my commitment to the city of Detroit and all the great things that are happening in the city," Verlander, 33, said in a released statement.
