A petite woman who signed up for lessons at Maple Driving School in Windsor felt uneasy about her instructor from the start, Sarah Sacheli reports in The Windsor Star.
His arm brushed her breast as she drove. When he explained the demerit point system, he put his hand on her thigh.
She thought the contact was inadvertent until, when driving on Highway 401, he grabbed her breast. On E.C. Row Expressway he began to fondle himself and moan, and put his hand under her sweater and between her legs.
The teacher -- an immigrant from India named Mukeshkumar ("Mike") Patel -- was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to 90 days in jail, Sacheli writes.
Justice Mitch Hoffman called Patel’s behavior "predatory and shameful." . . .
"From a safety point of view," Hoffman said, "it was reckless and dangerous in the extreme."
