There's another Opening Day downtown this week. Lumen Detroit, a restaurant and bar at Beacon Park, starts serving Tuesday at 3 p.m. -- a week earlier than planned.

It begins with just dinner service, Melody Baetens writes at The Detroit News. Lunch hours will follow after a shakeout.

Mussels, grilled cheese, strip steak, burgers and chicken wings are on the menu, which isn't posted yet at the operation's website.

The newcomer at 1903 Grand River Ave. near Cass Avenue, on the western edge of downtown, is run by Oakland County restaurateurs Norm and Bonnie LePage with their son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Susan LePage.

Baetens describes the setting:

The 4,000-square-foot restaurant’s main dining area is completely surrounded by glass doors that shower the 125-seat area with natural lighting. There’s room for another 200 seats outside the restaurant and on a rooftop patio. . . .

Items on the snack menu ($7-$18) include a charcuterie plate, mac and cheese with prosciutto and peas, crab cakes and a farmer’s market bowl with hummus tabbouleh, local veggies, olives and naan bread.

Lumen will also serve a menu of soups and salads ($6-$12) and entrees [that include] a Michigan pork chop with schnitzel, red cabbage, potatoes and whole grain mustard. Entrees run $11-$27.

A promotional handout says the menu "mixes the comfort classics you love with a high level of seasonal creativity without all the ingredients nobody can pronounce!"

The 1.2-acre park, open since last July, is run by the Downtown Detroit Partnership as a site for concerts, food trucks, movie nights, pub nights and other events -- such as Tigers Opening Day festivities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in a heated tent with bar service and a big screen showing the game.

Here's a look at Lumen from its social media posts and landing page:
