Detroit News columnist Lynn Henning writes about the Tigers' opener as if were a fairy tale, a dream come true at Comerica Park. And this comes from a guy who isn't afraid to criticize the team.

Henning writes:

Let the Tigers tell you how they made Opening Day just about perfect for a town that Monday began its 115th season of baseball in Detroit.

They would tell you a nifty 4-0 victory over the Twins began – and ended – with David Price. He now is the uncontested Tigers pitching ace and confirmed it in lustrous fashion Monday by throwing 8.2 innings of five-hit baseball in what was a classic season-opening start by any modern-day Tigers pitcher.

The Tigers would also recount, gleefully, how they battered the Twins with 10 hits that featured a couple of long-distance wallops.

Hennnig has other kind words, particularly for J.D. Martinez.

J.D. Martinez, who last year hit 23 home runs and became the biggest prize since blue ribbons were invented, opened the scoring with a 420-foot, opposite-field blast in the second inning that soared just past the scoreboard in deep right-center field.
