Tigers Will Trade J.D. Martinez, Lynn Henning Predicts

Outfielder J.D. Martinez, who has been a spark plug for the Tigers since his recent return to the club following an injury, may not be around in August.

Lynn Henning of Te Detroit News predicts Martinez will likely be dealt before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31.

"J.D. Martinez is going to get dealt," Henning said in the latest edition of The Detroit News' Talking Tigers TV show. "I think that's certain. He's going to go for a handsome package close to what (Yoenis) Cespedes and David Price brought two years ago."

"They need more talent and fresh blood in the system in order for them to be competitive for the long haul."
