Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel has interest in running for governor.
In fact, he says there's a better than a 50-50 chance he’ll enter the 2018 race, report Nolan Finley and Ingrid Jacques of The Detroit News.
“If I get in, I’m pretty sure I can win the Democratic primary,” he said in an interview at the start of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference.
Alternatelym, he may run as an Independent. “I’m fiscally conservative, and I agree with a lot of Republican positions," Hackel tells the paper.
