The news of Marvin Winans' carjacking last week shattered a city's naive innocence about local crime and rallied a people to fight back against lawlessness. Or something. Turns out, according the Detroit News, Pastor Winans is kind of a scofflaw himself.

News: The state suspended Winans' license most recently on May 9, after he didn't pay two tickets police issued in December in Hazel Park, according to Michigan Secretary of State records. One ticket was for previously driving on a suspended license and the other was for impeding traffic.

Well, in fairness, who hasn't put off paying a ticket and missed the deadline? Probably most people. Or at least a lot of us.

Still, Winans has had 11 traffic citations since 2009 and 4 suspensions since 2006. Anyway you slice it, that's a lot. Come on, Pastor, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. By which I mean your speeding fines. -- JTW
