Thrilling moments in baseball can take place in foul territory.

A special moment began Tuesday night in Cleveland when a young Indians fan leaned over the barrier along the first base line and fielded a foul ball with his cap.

The boy started yelling over to Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera and telling him that he had his back. Cabrera talked back and smiled.

Between innings  Cabrera came over to give the boy a bat and batting gloves, Fox 2 reported.

"I just told Miggy I got his back," the boy said. "He needed to be fired up. He was bored. He looked bored out there. He just said 'You wait there.'

"At first I thought he was telling me to back away, stop talking. Then I see him bring this bat and I'm like 'Oh my gosh.'"

The reporter asks if  Cabrera is now one of his favorite players.

"He's still on Detroit . . .," the fan says. "I've got to thank Miguel Cabrera and my buddy John."
