Updated: 11:58 p.m., Thursday: -- More twists in the case of the missing boy Charlie Bouthuell V. Fox 2 reports that the mother, Monique Dillard-Bothuell,  is in custody for a probation violation after police found her in possession of  a gun. She had previously been convicted buying a gun without a license.

The son told investigators that his stepmom was helping him hide from his dad.

Meanwhile, Fox 2 reports that Child Protective Services has removed the boy's two half-siblings from the household while they and police investigate the possibility that the father may have physically abused the boy. The 12-year-old boy has been released to the custody of his biological mom.

Detroit police are currently investigating the possibility of child abuse after Charlie, 

The strange case involving 12-year-old Charlie Bothuell V  who went missing for about 11 days, continues to have legs.

The boy was found hiding on Wednesday in a basement of his father's and stepmother's condo in Detroit. On Thursday, he was released from custody to his biological mother, George Hunter of the Detroit News reports.

The News reports that Investigators are now trying to determine whether Charlie was physically abused at home.

“We’re still reviewing evidence, and will turn our findings over to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, and they’ll make the decision whether charges will be filed,” Craig said.

The father, Charlie Bothuell IV,  said Wednesday that he disciplined the boy, but didn't abuse him. Police seized a PVC pipe, but it was unclear if it was used to punish the boy.
