Charlie Bothuell V
Detroiter Charlie Bothuell V, 12, may have been able to pull off a Houdini and disappear right under everyone's nose for 11 days, but his family's drama isn't vanishing anytime soon.
Here's a recap of the latest, according to Eric Lawrence and Gina Damron of the Freep:
- Bothuell said in a court hearing Friday that he had been verbally and physically abused
- Michigan Children's Protective Services removed from the house the boy's two younger siblings — ages 4 years and 10 months on Thursday.
- The stepmom, who was arrested Thursday for a weapons, probation violation, was freed from custody Friday on a $5,000 personal bond and ordered to wear a GPS tether. A hearing on the probation violation is set for July 11.
- Officials said they found bumps and bruises on the boy's body after he was taken for treatment after he was found.
- The boy is living with his biological mother on the city's east side.
The Detroit News reports that police were investigating whether the father, Charlie Bothuell IV, was preoccupied with the son's physical fitness. The News reported that that is part of their investigation into whether the boy may have been abused.
