Uber has become so much a part of the landscape.

A man charged with murdering a Madison Heights man on Halloween night, setting his house on fire and stealing his car, eventually got away by calling Uber for a ride, Mike McConnell of the Royal Oak Daily Tribune writes.

Suspect Christopher Charles-Ruben King, 19, of Detroit, was in Madison Heights 43rd District Court on Wednesday.

Police tell the paper that the suspect hooked up with the victim, Fernando Gonzales, 59, through a Craigslist personal ad. The suspect is accused of strangling Gonzales to death, setting the house on fire and stealing his car and leaving it at a shopping mall near 12 Mile and John R.

He then made it home by calling an Uber car.
