Now for some bad holiday news for Michiganians.

State health officials say flu season seems to arriving earlier than normal this year.

The Detroit News reports that Michigan had 63 reported cases as of last Thursday, up from 34 the previous week. Of those, 23 were in Southeast Michigan, 14 in the central part of the state and six in Northern Michigan.  L'Anse Area Schools in the U.P. closed for three days because of a flu outbreak. 

"That's a pretty big jump," said Angela Minicuci, spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Community Health told the News. "It's hard to predict if it will continue. "It is a concern to see this many cases this early in the season."
