The family of Pia Farrenkopf, whose mummified remains were discovered last week in a Pontiac garage, authorities believe, has created a Facebook page.
It sounds strange, but this is 2014, and the family believes friends and other family members can share stories of how they remember her, Elisha Anderson reports in the Free Press.
Farrenkopf’s niece created the page, called “Mummified in Michigan,” which shows a picture of Farrenkopf from high school, wearing glasses with her hair partially pulled back.
Nina Logan, 19, explained in a post:
I would like to briefly explain why I named this page the way I did. I entitled it Mummified in Michigan because I knew you would be able to relate it with the headlines they are using in the news.
I do not like the name but I wanted the connection to be made with the story and this page. I wanted to draw those of you who were reading the story to this page so I could explain to you who Pia Davida Farrenkopf was.
I believe the more people I can draw to the page the more answers I will get. I have already been contacted by multiple coworkers and friends of Pia. This page is for those of you who care to know who my aunt was. For those of you who have a kind heart and want to offer kind words.
For those of you who knew Pia and can help us try and figure out what happened. If you are NOT one of those people PLEASE keep your rude inconsiderate comments to yourself. I would also like to thank those of you who have offered your prayers and thoughts.
Logan appears to have posted this comment, which takes issue with an aspect of the investigation:
I spoke with one of Pia's close friends/co workers. That person reassured me that Pia did in fact have a cat and dog. This seems like just an insignificant detail but it is not. I'm putting this up because sheriffs in Pontiac continue to state Pia never had a dog or cat. Yet other reports show that when a wellness check was done the police booted down the door and took the dog and cat. Neighbors have attested to that.
They also say how they saw Pia walk her dog daily to the stop sign and back. Now you tell me why police would boot down a door during a wellness check. I believe you need reason to believe something is wrong before you force your way into someone else's home. This is just one of many details that is not adding up nor being addressed.
