A report released by New Detroit shows significant gaps in education and income among races across metro Detroit, with Latinos and African Americans lagging behind whites and Asian Americans, Niraj Warikoo reports in the Free Press.

“The economic segregation is very clear,” said John Ziraldo, a New Detroit board member and CEO of Lighthouse of Oakland County, a social services group in Pontiac.

Example: In Detroit, 56% of Latino adults don’t have a high school diploma. In Oakland County, 76% of Asian American adults and 42 percent of whites in Oakland County have a college degree.

Example: 33% of White households in Oakland County make more than $100,000 a year; 44% of black households in the city of Detroit make less than $25,000,
