Last weekend's ice storm affected power for roughly 150,000 DTE customers in southeast Michigan and currently 58,000 are still without service this Christmas Eve morning. The utility has imported 450 extra linemen from six neighboring states to assist restoring service.
The majority of the outages are in Oakland, Lapeer, and Livingston counties.
WXYZ: DTE is working with the American Red Cross to provide a warming shelter, food, blankets and water to customers in the hardest hit areas.
Just like in a third world country!
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of just 17 degrees today in Lapeer.
