The fate of Detroit Police Officer Joseph Weekley is now in the hands of  the jury.

The jury began deliberating today, and went for about 4.5 hours, according to the Free Press. The jury will return Monday.

 Weekley is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and careless discharge charged in the charged in the fatal shooting of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones. 

Weekley has proclaimed his innocence. He told jurors on Thursday that he unintentionally pulled the trigger on his MP5 submachine gun during an east-side  house raid in 2010.
