If I were meeting up with the British Prime Minister and wanted to give him something distinctly Detroit, I would have probably given him a frozen block of chili from American or Lafayette Coney Islands or an Anchor Bar t-shirt or a black and white photo of Coleman Young posing with Henry "Hank The Deuce" Ford.

Of course, I'm not thinking presidential, not like President Barack Obama. In London on Friday, he gave British Prime Minister David Cameron a Shinola watch with the presidential seal engraved on the back, presented in a wooden Shinola box customized with the presidential seal.

Todd Spangler of the Free Press, relying on a media pool report filed by Michael Shear of The New York Times, writes:

A quick run-through of Shinola's online catalog didn't produce any watches with a presidential seal, so the White House probably ordered them specifically, though neither the administration nor Shinola said so Friday.
