"Macomb County, Michigan is where Democrats go for the hard truths to save their party," is how Daily Beast columnist Eleanor Clift starts her piece on guess-where. Her sitdown with Stan Greenberg, the Democratic pollster who first named Macomb's "Reagan Democrats," should give anyone hoping for a statewide flip back to blue pause.

Greenberg is dubious about Democrat messaging ("A better deal") in mid-2018, but he sees the issues voters face. “I can’t tell you how powerful the health care issue is. People are in tears about the cost of health care, and they blame the Republicans,” he told Clift.
And though he found that college-educated white women “seemed as much a base, anti-Trump group as the African Americans,” working-class men in Macomb are still with Trump. And a lot of Sunday dinners are accompanied by indigestion about it.
Writes Clift: "The politicized, polarized civil war in the country is in the family, says Greenberg, with older voters blaming the mainstream media’s 'fake news' for their millennial children failing to understand what Trump is trying to do."
