Professional basketball is coming to Windsor with Thursday's official announcement that the National Basketball League of Canada approved an expansion franchise for the 2012-13 season.
According to the Windsor Star, the league's board of directors voted unanimously to accept a bid put forth by Detroit businessman Dartis Willis Sr. on behalf of a still-unnamed group of owners.
Andre Levingston, president and CEO of NBL Canada, said Windsor's ownership group consists of Willis, one Michigan physician and one Windsor physician.
"We haven't given their names yet. We want to let them do it," Levingston said. "We don't want to spoil their fun and their press conference."
