Pistons Tom Gores Platinum Equity 0216

For those of you who hate to drag your butt out to the Palace for a Pistons game -- particularly on those cold, snowy nights -- unfortunately there's no relief in sight.

Tom Walsh of the Free Press reports that Piston owner Tom Gores has no plans in the near future to join Detroit's other sports teams in the Motor City and play in Detroit.

“Right now the Palace, I think, is an amazing place,” he told Walsh. “We’ve made a lot of changes to it, and upgrades … What we need is to get the Pistons back, that’s my first job, to get the Pistons back to where the fan base believes in it. To build an arena is not my first job.”

That being said, maybe we should force the team to be renamed: The Auburn Hills Pistons.

Besides the Pistons, Gores is involved in a number of industries in Michigan like auto parts and boat building. -- A.L.
