This is one of those stories that makes you say: "Really? You Really did that?"
George Hunter of the Detroit News reports that a Detroit Police homicide sergeant has been suspended after officials discovered that he was wearing a murder victim's expensive watch.
Not only that, but the investigator, Sgt. Alex Vinson, is suspected of going into the evidence room and swtiching the expensive, German-made watch with a cheaper one. He could face criminal charges.
Vinson was in charge of the murder case involving the unknown victim. Investigators had taken a picture of the watch and then put in the storage room.
The case went cold, and when investigators decided to take another look this week, they discovered the expensive watch had been replaced with a cheaper one, the Detroit News reports.
Chief James Craig tells the News: "The case in ongoing, and the sergeant has been suspended while we prepare a warrant for review by prosecutors."
