Joe Gentz
Handyman Joe Gentz could make things considerably more difficult for prosecutors if he reneges on a deal to testify against Bob Bashara in the murder of Bashara's wife Jane.
WXYZ reports that Gentz wants to withdraw his guilty plea in the murder of Jane Bashara and renege on his promise to testify against Bashara. Gentz confessed to killing Jane at the bequest of Bashara.
Gentz is the only key witness in the murder.
A hearing is set for today before Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans to see if Gentz will testify. Opening statements in the trial are slated to begin Tuesday.
Gentz pleaded guilty to killing Jane Bashara in a plea deal that included him testifying against Bashara. He's currently serving 17-28 years for the murder.
