Monday, 2:50 p.m. -- The state of Michigan has officially certified the final vote, giving Donald Trump a victory by 10,704 votes. Trump now has 306 electoral votes compared to Hillary Clinton's 232, WRAL reports.

Monday, 2:20 p.m.: Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has hired former Michigan Democratic Party chairman Mark Brewer as her attorney in a statewide hand recount she plans to request by Wednesday’s deadline, Chad Livengood writes in The Detroit News.

The party intends to ask for recounts in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Though highly unlikely to happen, Hillary Clinton victories in those states would be enough to turn the election around.

Original article, Monday morning:

The chances of a recount in three swing states reversing the presidential election results is a longshot, to say the least.

Nonetheless, it's likely to put Michigan once again in the media spotlight in this crazy election year. Ditto for Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein, who is pushing for the recount, continues to raise money for the effort. So far, she's raised more than $6 million of the $7 million goal.

Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers meets at 2 p.m. Monday to vote on certifying election results in all 83 counties. Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton by 10,704 votes.

After that meeting, Stein will have 48 hour to request and pay for a hand recount of 4.8 million votes cast in Michigan, Chad Livengood writes in The Detroit News.

Trump is not pleased, tweeting:

"The Green Party scam to fill up their coffers by asking for impossible recounts is now being joined by the badly defeated & demoralized Dems."

The results in Michigan:

  • Donald J. Trump, Republican: 2,279,543
  • Hillary Clinton, Democratic: 2,268,839
  • Gary Johnson, Libertarian: 172,136
  • Jill Stein, Green: 51,463
