A decomposed body discovered in Stoepel Park on Detroit's northwest side is believed to be that of 41-year-old former Detroit Police officer Stefon Hodo, who vanished June 30.
“We don’t know. We’re going to let the medical examiner do their evaluation and see if we can identify the body that we found. Sadly, a lot of things are pointing to that may in fact be our retired police officer,” Chief James White said during a Thursday afternoon news conference covered by WXYZ.

Hodo's 2007 Lexus and guns were stolen June 30 by a 29-year-old suspect tied to a Ferguson Street shooting, say police. That man was arrested.
When detectives searched Hodo's home two weeks ago, there did "appear to be a little bit of a struggle," police said at the time of his disappearance. He had been on the force from 2005-13.
Stoepel Park is at Outer Drive West and Evergreen Road in the Westwood neighborhood.
