The Lafayette Park area near downtown Detroit is normally peaceful. But around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, two people were fatally shot and a third was critically wounded, Detroit Police announce on social media.
The shooting happened near East Larned and Orleans Street.
An apparent drive-by shooting targeted four people inside a Ford Edge, WDIV reports. One person was not injured inside the vehicle. Police are searching for a dark SUV.
Chief James White calls the shooting a "heinous crime."
