Dustin Blitchok of the Oakland Press has a feel-good story about how Robin Williams touched the life of a Rochester man, who did battle with serious illness.

The paper reports that Cory Krupa, 27, met Robin Williams on the set of "RV" in Vancouver in  2006, and spent the day together, during a trip organized by Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Williams, who attended Detroit Country Day,  passed away Monday. He committed suicide. He was 63.

In 2005, the year before meeting Williams, Cory, who had been born premature, contracted bacterial meningitis following one of the 42 surgeries he’d undergone in his life, the paper reported. He had to go undergo brain surgery, and afterwards, had to be resuscitated six times.

As part of the trip to Vancouver, a black limousine took Krupa's  family to the airport to fly first-class, the paper reported.

When he arrived on the set, Williams stopped filming. He signed a copy of the “Flubber” script for Krupa and when learning he was a James Bond fan, gave him a 007 action figure he received from Sean Connery, Blitchok writes.

Krupa also helped direct the opening scene of "RV,"and they ate lunch together.

Williams made Krupa feel like he was the most important person on the set, his mother told the Oakland Press.
