Royal Oak Native Directs Movie 'The Kings of Summer'

Diirector Jordan Vogt-Roberts says he drew on his days growing up in Royal Oak when making the movie "Kings of Summer."

“I’m very much drawing from hanging out with my friends in Royal Oak; you know, what adolescence was to me,” Vogt-Roberts tells WWJ.

WWJ reports that movie, which is about three teen boys who run away from home and build a house in the woods, played to rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013.

The movie opens in select theaters on May 31.
