It's a challenge keeping data secret these days.

JC Riendl of the Detroit Free Press reports the U.S. Secret Service is investigating a breach of personal patient information at the Detroit Medical Center and possibly one other hospital system.

The Freep reported that the DMC announced earlier Thursday that one of its employees was found in possession of personal information for 1,087 patients at Harper University Hospital in Detroit, one of its facilities.

The hospital said in a statement that the documents contained the patients’ names, personal health information, dates of birth and, in some cases, Social Security numbers. The DMC said it is cooperating in the probe.

The article did not mention the name of the second system that might have had a data breach.
