It doesn't take a lot of snow and ice to create dangerous road conditions in Portland, Ore., particularly on the hilly roads.

So Saturday, the Portland Trail Blazers' canceled Saturday night's game against the Pistons because of the threat of severe weather in the Portland area, The Oregonian newspaper reports. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday at  6 p.m. at the Moda Center.

The Blazers and the NBA announced the decision shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday as winter weather conditions in the Portland area worsened and forecasts called for dangerous levels of ice and snow to continue throughout the evening, the paper reported.

“The safety of our fans and players is always the highest priority, and this decision to delay our home game until Sunday was made with that in mind,” says Trail Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan in a release.  “Input from the NBA, local government and public safety officials also played a role in our decision to postpone until Sunday.”
