Ever since Columbine, school officials take threats and secret plots very seriously.

The latest: Jameson Cook of The Macomb Daily writes:

A Center Line middle school student’s implied threat of violence against a teacher and her daughter, as well as a possible “hit list,” resulted in her being removed from the school in May and the teacher missing most of the rest of the school year.

A sixth-grade female student at Wolfe Middle School said in a journal entry she “can’t wait to see her (math teacher’s) blood” and made a threatening comment about the teacher’s 8-year-old daughter, the instructor says in a court document. Later, the girl told school counselors “she has a list of 10 names of people she wanted to kill” and “some of (her) classmates were on the list,” according to a May 14 police report, although that claim was called “not accurate” Monday by a district administrator.

The girl also told school counselors Klaressa Howery and Colleen Berry on May 13 that she “loved death and blood” and wanted to kill her mother and father and grandmother, who lives in her home, according to a police report. The document also stated she stated she hides a knife under her bed.

The girl was was evaluated by a psychologist who concluded that the girl was not a threat to herself or others, the Macomb Daily reports.

The teacher obtained a PPO order against the girl. The girl and her family are contesting the order.
