The suspect in a murder in Franklin has fatally shot himself inside a home in Royal Oak Tuesday afternoon, according to media reports.
WDIV reported that Thomas Matthews,33, was surrounded by police for hours at a home on Sprague Avenue in Royal Oak. Police sent a robot into the house before going in and discovered he had shot himself.
WDIV reported that the murder in Franklin happened earlier Tuesday at a home in the 26000 block of Charles Lane.
The victim was identified as Harry Berkowitz, , 72, a school teacher in the Birmingham school district, according to WXYZ.
