The Detroit News reports a Grosse Pointe Park man was arraigned Sunday morning in connection with the attempted firebombing Friday of the home of Gary and Janet Van Elslander of the Art Van furniture family.
Charles Patterson Kay, 20, has been charged in Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court with arson second degree, sending explosive with intent causing damage and possession of a Molotov cocktail. Kay lives in his parents' home just a few hundred feet from the Van Elsander residence.
Kay's bond was set at $35,000 by Municipal Court Judge Carl Jarboe.
