Stony Creek Metropark
A teenager drowned Sunday evening at Stony Creek Metropark in Washington Township in Macomb County.
Mitch Hotts of the Macomb Daily reports that multiple dive teams late Sunday called off their search for the body. The search was expected to resume today.
The young man, believed to be 17 or 18, reportedly jumped from a paddleboat into a lake. He was with three other friends, the paper reported. The incident happened around 6:10 p.m.
The paper reported that witnesses said they saw the victim's hands grasping above the water’s surface before disappearing from view.
“At this point, it looks more like a recovery effort,” Macomb County Sheriff’s Capt. Brenda Baker said, according to the paper.
