The Cavalry is Coming: State Police and Wayne County to Help Detroit Police

The cavalry is coming -- that is the Michigan State Police and Wayne County Sheriff's deputies.

Amid budget cuts and the anticipated cuts in Detroit police officers, the Detroit News reports that the two police agencies will be deploying troops to help with violent crime and traffic enforcement.

The News reports that while violent crime is at about the same level it was a decade ago, it has about 1,000 fewer officers.
