The judges' would have also accepted This Winged Wheeler's On Fire, Kerry Wood's Last Waltz, and (if you're into the whole limit the pun to the song in question thing) Take A Load Off, Eddie. Also: Yeah, Cheli and a Bottle of Vedder.
Anyway, Deadspin has video of Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and retired Red Wing defenseman Chris Chelios performing a bro-tastic karaoke version of The Band classic "The Weight." Former Chicago Cubs pitcher and all-Disabled List legend Kerry Wood looks on, presumably unable to sing having strained a vocal cord earlier in the evening doing "Up on Cripple Creek."
As a tribute to the late Levon Helm this is, well, this is still preferable to Coldplay's "Fight For Your Right" cover to honoring Adam Yauch.
No word yet as to when Robbie Robertson and John Havlicek will cover "Yellow Ledbetter". -- JTW
