Bye bye Leo's Coney Island.
Bill Shea of Crain's Detroit Business writes that the Detroit Tigers and their concessionaire, Delaware North Sportservice, are replacing the Leo’s Coney Island on Witherell Street at Comerica Park with a nostalgia-based eatery, the Corner Tap Room, that will include the original Tiger Stadium dugout bench.
The Tigers had hoped to have the restaurant ready by opening day, but that date has been moved to May 8. The restaurant will have signs and seats from the old Tiger Stadium.
Shea writes:
News of the new restaurant, which will be open for lunch during the week and lunch and dinner on game days, broke today during a media food tasting the team hosted at the stadium to introduce the 2015 season’s new concession and retail offerings.
The concessionaire is looking for a Corner Tap Room manager, who'll earn $40,000 a year, according to a Craigslist ad posted last week.
