The vacant building on Brush Street
Cool things are happening in Detroit's North End.
The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative is expanding its presence with a new partnership to help transform a vacant, 3,200-square-foot apartment building at 7432 Brush St. into a community center and cafe, Chris Ehrmann writes in Crain's Detroit Business. The building is across the street from the group's two-acre urban farm.
It's part of what is being touted as the country's first urban "agrihood."
The nonprofit last week announced support from BASF SE and Sustainable Brands, a global community of business innovators, Crain's reports.
Renovations are expected to be done in May.
