Veteran Farmington Hills police officer Matthew Charles Parsons, 48, is behind bars facing child pornography charges.

Jennifer Ann Wilson of WXYZ reports that Parsons was booked in the Oakland County Jail on five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, five charges of using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of illegally recording an individual. The 20-year department veteran was being held on a $300,000 cash bond.

"It was shocking that it was one of our own,"  Police Chief Chuck Nebus tells WXYZ.

The state Attorney General accused the officer of downloading at least 10 videos of child sexually abusive material and secretly filming videos of a naked adult, WXYZ reports. All were on his personal electronic devices.
