NBC Sports reports that the Tigers said Thursday that Victor Martinez tore the medial meniscus, a cartiladge pad, in his left knee during workouts last week and is scheduled for surgery.
NBC Sports reports that players who have had surgery to repair similar injuries have missed 4-6 weeks.
