Last summer, the vacant Park Avenue Hotel on Park Avenue was imploded to make room for downtown Detroit's new hockey arena.
It was one of the more notable implosions in the city in recent decades.
Others have included the Hudson's department store on Woodward Avenue in Detroit in 1998 and the Jeffries Housing Projects near the Lodge Freeway in 2001. Some spectators at implosions get downright giddy watching buildings crumble, as you can hear.
