We came across this training and operations video about the Detroit Police Department in the 1950s.
Part of the 24-minute story focuses on a cop named "Joe."
As you can see, the department was virtually all-white six decades ago. At the time, blacks comprised about 16 percent of the city's population, but it's hard to spot a black officer.
