It's not the first time authorities have come across an alligator in Detroit.

This time, animal control officers removed one Friday afternoon from a backyard in the 1600 block of South Ethel Street in southwest Detroit, WDIV reports.

An animal control officer tells the station he has seen other city gators that were about the same size.

It's not clear who owns the confiscated critter.

This tale -- or tail -- seems an apt ending for a week that began with a Packard Plant tiger.
