It was a cordial exchange between an Auburn Hills police officer and Pistons' guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope last Wednesday around 2:50 a.m. during a traffic stop in which he is arrested for drunk driving.
A video posted on YouTube by TMZ Sports shows the officer asking the NBA guard if he's had anything to drink. He says he's had two glasses of Hennessy a cognac, and adds that he drank water the rest of the night so he could drive safely.
The officer knows that he's a ballplayer and then says he wants to give him a sobriety test. "I just want to make sure you're OK to drive," the lawman says.
He has the Piston count briefly before giving him a field sobriety test in which he has to blow into a device. He's then taken to the station, where he's given a Breathalizer and registers .08 blood alcohol content, the minimum amount in Michigan to be considered driving under the influence.
