An Oakland County Circuit Court jury finds Jeffrey Ziegler of Rochester Hills guilty in a high-profile case in which fired at black teen who knocked on his door on April 12, asking for directions to school after he missed the bus.
He was convicted Friday of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and possessing a firearm during a felony. WXYZ reports.
Ziegler, 53, who is white, shot at Brennan Walker, 14.
Ziegler testified that he and his wife believed an attempted break-in was underway. He admitted running outside his house with a shotgun, but insisted he slipped and accidentally fired his gun.
A video from his security system, which jurors replayed repeatedly during deliberations, makes it look as if it he intentionally fired. Bond is revoked and sentencing will be Nov. 18.
